34 Weeks Check Up...

After arriving in NC from NY today, Matt and I had our 8.5 months (34 weeks) check up. My blood pressure was great 112/60 and Ella's heartbeat was 138 BPM. The doctor confirmed she is now head down, getting ready for her big appearance. Six weeks to go!!!

Baby Shower, Take Four...

Today, my mom and sister hosted my fourth baby shower and it was absolutely AMAZING!!! The sun decided to make an appearance, I've been told its been rarely seen for the month of June, which made for perfect weather and best of all, there was no humidity.

I was able to spend time with my best friends from high school and conveniently Katie was nearby vacationing with her family and was also able to come. It was nice to spend time with family and friends that I haven't seen since Christmas, to think then I was two months pregnant, forty pounds lighter and considerably less SWOLLEN. BTW...the last two weeks I have had a permanent new addition to my ankles; excess fluid.

Okay, less complaining and more thanking..back to the baby shower. Thank you everyone for the generous gifts. To name a few, Ella received more clothes, including two handmade sweaters and handmade baby blanket, an "ella"phant piggy bank, monogrammed burp cloths and pillow, bath tub and books. My mom also surprised me by finishing the crib skirt, valance and monogrammed pillow, which she made from the fabric I picked out, I can't wait to get home to finish decorating the nursery.

Overall, it was a great day, lots of LOVE, Ella is truly blessed and SPOILED!

Happy Father's Day...

Today Matt celebrated his first Father's Day. Beau and Laci know how much Matt enjoys golfing, so they got him a UNC Tarheels golf polo and matching hat. Ella thought it would be a good idea to get herself a UNC Tarheels onesie with the expression "Future Tailgater" embroidered on the back (too cute) so she can wear it while they watch UNC basketball games together. Maybe her first words will be "Go Heels!"

Special thanks to Mattie for all he's done, especially the last 33 weeks, probably wouldn't have made it without him. He is going to be the BEST dad ever, Ella, Beau, Laci and myself are LUCKY to have him!!

Baby Shower...

Today, Matt's mom and sister hosted a baby shower for Matt's side of the family. It was GREAT! The food was awesome, especially the cheesecake bites! I've posted the salsa recipe below for all to try, I highly recommend it. Ella has been spoiled once again, she received a lot of great gifts, thank you everyone for your generosity.

Summer Salsa

1 can corn (drained)
2 cans black beans (rinsed and drained)
2 cans diced tomatoes (drained)
1 small red onion (finely chopped)
3 jalapeno peppers (finely chopped)
1 avocado (diced)
1/4 cup cilantro (finely chopped)
3-4 tablespoons lime juice
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Combine all ingredients and refrigerate for two hours.

32 Weeks Check Up...

Today, we went for our 8 months (32 weeks) check up and all is well. We now see the doctor every two weeks, its becoming somewhat monotonous.
- Arrive at the office/check in
- Make copy of insurance card/sign paperwork
- Leave sample
- Weigh in
- Medications/blood pressure/check fetal heart beat
- WAIT for doctor
- Any questions/concerns
- See you in two weeks

Ella's heartbeat was 138 BPM, my blood pressure was 110/84 and I lost two pounds (of no concern to the doctor). After failing my one hour glucose test, I studied really hard and passed my three hour glucose test, I've never failed a test in my life.

Next appointment scheduled for the day we return from our trip to NY, June 30th.

Baby Shower...

Yesterday, my best friends, Ashton, Katie, Adrianne and Beth, hosted a baby shower at Ashton's moms house in Davidson. It was PERFECT! Thank you, thank you, thank you..for being the great friends you are, Ella will be so lucky to have you in her life, as am I. For all my guests, those who were able to make it and those who were at the beach, a special thank you for all your generous gifts!

4D Ultrasound...

Today we went for our 4D ultrasound, it was amazing!! I highly recommend having a 4D ultrasound done, and I also recommend Deidre Pickens, owner of Watch Me Grow Ultrasound http://www.watchmegrowultrasound.com. Here are a few of our favorite pictures, the rest can be viewed in 'Pictures of Ella'.
